Hannah Parsons, our project manager, is the main reason we are all still somewhat sane in the office and not at each other’s throats. She keeps tabs on all of Sayvee’s ongoing projects, monitors our Kelowna advertising campaigns, and keeps the team focused on their roles and tasks within each project in addition to the deadlines associated with said roles and tasks. Hannah is also our first line of contact with all our clients, making sure they are satisfied with their marketing results and adjusting projects per their requests.

Hannah has been part of the team for almost three years now and many of us wonder how we managed to get by without her beforehand. Despite the chaos around her work, you’ll never see her lose her cool (we’re not sure she ever actually has). Calm, cool, and collected, you’ll typically find her responding to emails at just about every point of the day.

So Hannah, why did you choose to work at Sayvee?

The role fit my strengths and it seemed like the company had a fun vibe! Thankfully, that turned out to be true (on both fronts) and I’ve really been enjoying working here.

In ten words or less can you describe your favourite part of your job?

Doing a little bit of everything.

If you could write your own job title for what you do here what would it be?

Client-communicator, team-tasker, big-picture-pusher, budget-keeper, scope-wrangler, and most recently: bagel-buyer. It’s a lot to manage, but it keeps me energized and I like just about every second of it. The bagel-buyer part is especially fun.

Alright now we get into the real questions. First up: if you could make your own scented candle, what would it be and why?

My “white chocolate cranberry cookies fresh out of the oven” because they are delicious and Andrew would get his hopes up until he realized the truth. Which would be a delightfully entertaining moment that I’d definitely want to see.

No holds barred, what would be your ideal dessert?

Freshly baked apple berry crumble for sure. Just as long as it’s not too sweet—just the way my mother makes it. Nothing beats homemade cooking. Nothing.

Surprise! The dessert was a ruse and you’ve been challenged to a duel by a mysterious stranger, what would be your weapon of choice if it was a fight to the death?

A plate of fresh baking, because what disarms someone better than some good ol’ love, kindness, and hospitality? And no, it wouldn’t be poisoned. My goal is to avoid the fight altogether.

On a less challenging note, what’s one of your top five movies you’ve ever seen?

There are a lot of movies I like but I’d have to say any of the Lord of the Rings trilogy films. It’s an epic story in a brilliantly created world that you can always learn something from.

If you had to be trapped in a TV show, what show would you want to be trapped in?

Brooklyn 99. I could keep myself busy by solving crime while also staying highly entertained and laughing a lot. In truth, I doubt I’d get any work done.

What would you name your own private train if you had one?

Choo-Choo Express. Because the child in all of us wants their own choo-choo train. Also, trains are difficult to name, just saying. You can’t say that wouldn’t be hilarious for a train station to announce that “Choo-Choo Express” had just arrived.

Where was the most amazing sunset you have ever seen?

Good question. Either the Greek Islands or the Austrian Alps. It’s really hard to choose between the two. Both were pretty spectacular. That being said, I’m slightly more inclined to pick the Greek Islands one since that trip was my honeymoon.

What’s the craziest/weirdest conversation you’ve ever had?

Most likely a conversation where I was trying to explain one of my bizarre dreams. For the record I swear I’m not secretly a crazy person.

Let’s switch back to marketing, what’s one of your favourite ads you’ve seen?

President’s Choice did a pretty great ad called #EatTogether. The dinner table is level for a reason. I love how food connects us as human beings, no matter how different we are. Sharing a meal has a unique way of bringing down walls and removing barriers. It’s around the dinner table (or anywhere we share a drink or some food) that so many relationships begin and grow!

What’s one aspect of your job you’d like to see future developments for that would make it easier?

Faster computer and internet. I often have a lot of tabs open, which is the nature of my role, and I find I spend too much time waiting for Google Drive or different web pages to open. Honestly, even if just Google Drive was faster that alone would make a huge difference.

Thanks for taking the time to answer Hannah! Look forward in the coming months to more interviews with the simply superb, sunny, and smiling Sayvee team!
